FAQs
Explore our frequently asked questions below to find the ideal financing path for your holiday lodge. Whether you’re investing in a brand-new premium lodge or a pre-owned model, our tailored lending lines provide flexible terms, competitive rates, and no deposit requirements – making ownership simple and accessible.
Can I receive a quick decision on lodge finance?
Yes, you can! In most cases, applicants receive a decision in principle on the same day they enquire. We know how important timing is when it comes to securing your getaway, so simply complete our online form, and one of our specialists will call you back to discuss your choices.
How long does it take to secure my funding?
We aim to make the process as quick and straightforward as possible. Once your application is processed and you receive an offer in principle — often within the same day — funds are usually released within 1 to 4 weeks. The exact timeframe depends on the lender and how quickly you provide any necessary documentation. Our priority is to get everything sorted efficiently, so you can start enjoying your new retreat without delay.
What’s the difference between Hire Purchase and Secured Loans?
- Secured Loans: A flexible alternative to legacy financing, offering extended repayment terms up to 20 years, lower interest rates, and no deposit requirement. This option allows you to own the asset outright from the start, providing greater financial freedom.
- Hire Purchase (HP): Typically requires a 10-20% deposit and involves fixed monthly repayments over a shorter term of 7 to 10 years. Ownership transfers to you only once all payments have been completed in full.
- Please note: Homeownership is a baseline requirement for both financing pathways on our panel, whether you are financing a luxury lodge or a static caravan.

What is the maximum amount I can borrow?
Our financing choices range from £10,000 up to a maximum limit of £500,000, tailored to suit your needs and based on the equity available in your home. Whether you’re investing in a luxury double lodge with added decking or a high-quality pre-owned unit, we can arrange finance to cover the full cost, including park connection extras, without the need for a cash deposit.
Do I need to be a homeowner to qualify?
Yes — our secured loans are specifically for homeowners, which allows us to offer lower rates and longer terms than would otherwise be available. If you’re not currently a homeowner, unfortunately, we won’t be able to assist with this particular credit product.
Are secured loans popular for these purchases?
Yes, secured agreements are a very popular choice for these premium purchases and are often preferred over Hire Purchase (HP) contracts. In the past two years, we have arranged twice as many secured loans as HP options. This preference is largely due to the structural advantages they provide, including lower interest rates, longer repayment periods, and zero deposit requirements.
Do I need a deposit to secure my loan?
No, a deposit isn’t needed for the secured loans we arrange, so you can start your application straight away and buy your lodge without saving up first.
Unlike many Hire Purchase agreements, which ask for money upfront, a secured loan can fund up to 100% of your lodge’s purchase price, subject to status and lender criteria. Your savings stay free for the extras that come with a new holiday home, such as park connection fees, first-year insurance or decking.
Are there restrictions on where I can buy my holiday home?
No, you are not restricted. Whether you’re buying a new or pre-owned model from a licensed holiday park, a private seller, or even through an online marketplace, our lending panel offers complete flexibility. This gives you the absolute freedom to choose the ideal model that perfectly suits your needs, with no limitations on the vendor.
However, finding the right lodge is only the first step. Timing your purchase carefully can save you thousands of pounds on manufacturer mark-ups and park incentives. Be sure to check our guide on the best time of year to buy a lodge to maximise your negotiation leverage before applying for finance.
What is a soft credit search?
A soft search is a type of background check that does not leave any visible mark on your credit report and has absolutely no impact on your credit score. It simply helps us determine which panel lenders are available to you and the rates they can offer. To find out which deal suits you best, just complete our online form, and a team member will contact you to discuss your options.
Can I get finance even with a poor credit history?
Yes, you can. While some high-street institutions view a poor or adverse credit history as an automatic rejection, we look at the bigger picture. We understand that no two financial circumstances are the same. That’s why we offer access to a diverse panel of flexible lenders who are willing to consider various credit profiles, ensuring you still have choices even if your historic credit rating isn’t perfect.
A low credit score doesn’t automatically disqualify you from caravan ownership. Our bad credit loan guide explains exactly how our specialist lending panel reviews past defaults and what steps you need to take to secure approval.
Can I rent out my lodge?
Yes, in most cases. Lodges come with ongoing costs such as pitch fees and upkeep, and many owners let theirs out during the busier months to help cover them. Rules on letting vary from park to park, so check with your park operator before you take any bookings.
On the finance side, lenders base their decision on the income you can evidence. Expected rental income isn’t counted, so plan your repayments around what you earn and treat any letting income as help with running costs, not as a way to pay the loan.
Can I repay my loan early?
Yes, you can! Many of our panel lenders provide flexible settlement paths that allow you to pay off your balance early, potentially saving you money on overall interest costs. However, it’s important to check if any specific early repayment fees apply before deciding to settle ahead of schedule. We’re happy to provide all the clear details so you can make an informed choice.
Do you offer Hire Purchase?
No, we no longer offer Hire Purchase (HP). While we previously provided HP structures, we decided to focus exclusively on secured homeowner loans after considering factors such as higher interest rates, shorter repayment terms, and customer preferences. Secured loans regularly offer greater flexibility, lower interest rates, and longer repayment periods.
Is buying a holiday lodge a good financial investment?
While holiday lodges offer an incredible lifestyle asset and potential holiday let income, they are not traditional real estate investments. Lodges depreciate over time and are subject to park leasehold tenure limits (usually between 15 and 50 years).
What happens to my finance agreement if my park lease expires?
Your finance term must align with the tenure agreement granted by the holiday park. Always check the remaining length of the park lease before finalising a long-term lodge finance package.
Are you a member of the National Caravan Council (NCC)?
Yes, Sure Finance holds full membership with the National Caravan Council (NCC), the main trade organisation representing the UK’s touring and parks sector. This ensures we adhere to rigorous industry standards and uphold a high level of professional service. Combined with our active FCA regulation, it means you can trust us to deliver dependable and transparent options for your holiday home financing.
How do I apply?
If you’d like to make an application for a secured loan, simply complete our online form. Once we receive your details, a member of our team will promptly call you back to talk through your options and connect you with a lender that best fits your needs.
